Walnut Brownies

Assalamualaikum.

Abah is not feeling well lately and his appetite is not so good either. So when today he said "Taknak buat scone ke" I sprang to my feet and went to Giant to buy ingredients. I am very good in making scones so takde hal lah kira kan. Bahah. So at night after Maghrib I started pungpang in the kitchen to find out that there is no enough essence of vanilla to make scones.

Heart dropped to the floor.

I really want to feed my parents some good homemade food and now no essence of vanilla in the laci??? Come on what is this. But hey. I remembered I have a pdf of brownies recipe in my phone so I started to gather brownies ingredients and mixed all up. So far so good here, as I thought.

Then I heated up the oven and put in the baking tin. Our oven is a confusing object. Sometimes got heat, sometimes the heat light goes off (means no heat?!) so it took soooooooooo long for my brownies to rise making it almost a non-brownies but a cake. But luckily, the brownies was a success (though the middle part is a bit extra moist). My parents ate it heartily and I felt full seeing them eating in such manner. Therefore I would like to share such a simple but heart-filling recipe for any of you (if any readers exist lah hahah).

-----------------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
400g caster sugar
225g melted butter (heat up a pot of water & melt using water heat)
80g cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
225g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
60g walnut, halves
-----------------------------------------------------------

Method:

1. Mix ingredients in the numbered order.

2. Put the mixture into a rectangular greased baking tin.
I think the size matters. The bigger the baking tin size is, the thinner your brownies will be. Thinner brownies means faster cooking time. We don't have any bigger rectangular baking tin so that's why my brownies took an hour to cook coz it's kinda thick.

3. Bake at 180 C for 30 minutes.
As I said before, mine took an hour, given by our oven is a very confusing and misleading object and the brownies is so thick.

4. Cool off and eat with vanilla ice cream.
Yum yum!

Bon appetit :)
